TITLE :Setup Shouldn't Allow User to Attempt CDSHARE in Root
PRODUCT :Windows NT
PROD/VER:3.10
OPER/SYS:WINDOWS
KEYWORDS:
--------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows NT operating system, version 3.1
- Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server, version 3.1
--------------------------------------------------------------
SYMPTOMS
========
Setup cannot complete copying files to the share.
CAUSE
=====
This problem occurs if the administrator attempts to run Setup to a
destination share that is the root of a FAT drive on a network
machine. Setup requires a subdirectory for a destination, and when the
file limit for a root is reached, the copy fails.
RESOLUTION
==========
Always specify the remote share destination to be a subdirectory on
the network share. Subdirectories have no limit to the number of files
you can create.
